Ronald D. Secrest Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award – Ricardo Cedillo

TEXAS BAR FOUNDATION GIVES RICARDO G. CEDILLO STATEWIDE RECOGNITION

Ricardo G. Cedillo of San Antonio is the recipient of the 2023 Ronald D. Secrest Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award from the Texas Bar Foundation. The firm of Beck Redden LLP established the award in honor and memory of Mr. Secrest, a gifted trial lawyer and a founding partner of the firm. The Ronald D. Secrest Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award was established to recognize an active trial lawyer. The award recognizes an active trial lawyer who, in his or her practice, has demonstrated high ethical and moral standards and has demonstrated exceptional professional conduct, thus enhancing the image of the trial lawyer. Established in June 2002, this award celebrates Ronald Secrest’s life as an outstanding trial lawyer who devoted himself to the highest standards of the trial practice.

Ricardo G. Cedillo is in his 43rd year of practicing law. Although based in San Antonio, Ricardo has practiced in federal and state courts across Texas and nationwide. He earned his bachelor’s from St. Mary’s University in 1974, his master’s from Trinity University in 1977, and graduated with his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1979.

In 1986 Ricardo started his own firm with J. Russell Davis and his father, Norman Davis (now Davis, Cedillo & Mendoza). Today, he has a varied civil practice on both sides of the docket – representing everyday people and Fortune 50 companies with equal zeal. His areas of experience include commercial litigation, contract disputes, estate and probate disputes, intellectual property disputes, insurance defense, partnership litigation, patent litigation, product liability defense, and tort litigation.

He serves on several local and state-wide charitable and public interest Boards and is pro bono legal counsel to various charities. He has been an author and speaker at numerous Continuing Legal Education courses sponsored by the State Bar of Texas.

Mr. Cedillo will be publicly recognized and be presented the Ronald D. Secrest Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award at the Texas Bar Foundation Annual Dinner held on June 23, 2023, at the JW Marriott Austin.
